Welcome to grosschopff.de

I am looking for information on Cecile (Caecilie) Grosschopff Dunscomb, her nephew  William Grosschopff and her four sisters.

Cecile was born in 1821. Her birthplace is Gera, a city in the former Principality Reuss in Germany.

On September 3, 1857 she arrived in New York. She traveled first class on the steam ship "SS Asia" embarking in Liverpool, England.
According to the passenger list  she was already a US citizen at that time so she must have emigrated in or before 1857.

On Nov 10, 1857 Cecile married Edward Dunscomb in Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts.
They moved to Nashville, Tennessee living there at least until her husband died.
Edward's will
was probated on February 26, 1895 in Nashville Davidson County, Tennessee USA.

Before Cecile married Edward she lived in Vevey, Switzerland.

She wrote her will on October 7, 1901 while living in the county of Culpeper, Virginia. It was probated on May 19, 1902 in Culpeper County Court, Virginia.

Cecile was probably buried next to her husband at Mount Olivet Protestant Cemetery of Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.

Her nephew William lived in Siegburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen (Rhine Province), Germany in 1901.
